This page describes how to setup  and conduct quizzes in SAFE.

How is it set up?

  • In a course, choose Quizzes tab
  • Click on 'Add quiz'
  • Give it a name and, if required, a description.
  • Expand the other sections to select the settings you want. With the default settings, students can attempt the quiz, moving freely between questions, each on a different page. There is no answers and scores and feedback display once they have completed the quiz.
  • To change any of these defaults, and for more information on configuring your quiz, see Quiz settings
  • Click 'Create Quiz'
  • The new quiz will appear under 'All Quizzes' section for that course
  • Click on the quiz and then, click 'Edit'
  • Select desired question type in 'New Question'

Quiz settings can be edited from Quiz -> Quiz Settings tab

Time settings

Set duration for the quiz
  • Quiz duration can be set in 'Time settings'
Evaluation settings

  • Negative marking
      • Set negative marks for the quiz if students gets a question wrong in 'Evaluation Settings'
  • Display marks at the end of the quiz to students
      • Show marks scored by the student at the end of students quiz attempt.
  • Display answers at the end of the quiz to students
      • Show correct answers for the quiz questions at the end of students quiz attempt.
Security settings

  • Enable randomisation
      • Randomise quiz questions and their options
  • Enforce login
      • Students are required to be logged in into SAFE app for attempting the quiz.
  • Enable security
      • Enabling security will enable capturing of various security breaches that took place during student's quiz attempt.
  • Enforce attendance marking
      • Students are required to mark their attendance for the quiz.

How to publish a quiz?

  • Open up a quiz
  • Open up 'Run Quiz' tab
  • Click on 'Publish'
Publishing a quiz creates a encrypted downloadable zip of the quiz, which gets auto-downloaded into the SAFE mobile app for students.
Once a quiz is published, the quiz will appear in the Course Quiz List for students in the SAFE mobile app.
Though, the students will not be able to attempt the quiz unless the quiz password is shared with them as they are required to enter the password for starting their quiz attempt.

Start quiz

  • In the 'Run Quiz tab, once a quiz is published, select the instance of the quiz and click on 'Start Quiz'
  • Starting a quiz reveals quiz password which has to be shared with the students.
  • The students use this password to start their quiz attempt through mobile app.
